For Immediate Release: Thursday, May 9, 2024
Oxnard, CA – Gold Coast Transit District (GCTD) will implement a new fare structure that will take effect on Sunday, July 7th, 2024. The regular adult base fare will increase from $1.50 to $2.00, and the reduced fare option for eligible passengers will change from $0.75 to $1.00, equivalent to half of the base fare.
GCTD has not adjusted its passenger fares in over ten years. After careful consideration, a public comment period, public outreach and a survey, GCTD presented its findings and final recommendation to its Board of Directors who unanimously approved the changes at the April meeting. Increases were approved in all other fare categories for GCTD’s fixed route bus service and its flexible services, including GO ACCESS paratransit service and its Late Night Safe Rides Program.
"We understand the significance of public transportation in the lives of our community members, and we are committed to creating a fare structure that balances the needs of our riders with the financial sustainability of our transit system." said Vanessa Rauschenberger, GCTD General Manager.
The change will be implemented on July 7th to coincide with the next scheduled service change and publication of its new Bus Book. More information on the fare adjustment is available here. GCTD encourages the community to stay updated through the website, social media channels, and information on board GCTD buses.
